The Detling School Association (DSA) is made up mainly of parents with children at the School who work closely with the staff to help raise funds and organise fun events for the children. They are very proud of their past efforts and achievements, and boast a very high percentage of parental support for such a small school. Throughout the fundraising the DSA have a wonderful time and have built up a very good relationship with both staff and pupils of the school as well as the surrounding community.
The DSA meet once a term and also produce a newsletter each half term, which not only keeps parents aware of all future events but also updates them on where the money raised has subsequently been spent.
In 2002 the DSA donated £1000 towards the new computer suite and 2003 saw another £1000 go towards the buying of equipment and the building of a secure Early Year Area. Their massive achievement in 2004 was to raise £2000 for outside play equipment and an additional £500 for two laser printers.
The DSA not only raise funds and organise social events but are also active in helping with painting etc around the school, and or reading and helping with the children.
For a small school association they have a very dedicated group of people whose only aim is to help improve Detling school in any way they can, after all, it’s their children who benefit from all the hard work.
