Counterfeit Currency Warning
Detling Parish Council
Residents and businesses of DETLING and THURNHAM are advised to be vigilant when taking cash payments following an incident locally in which counterfeit currency was used to purchase goods and receive a large amount of change. People receiving payment in cash are advised to check currency that does not look right and not to accept it as payment if they are unsure. An example picture has been attached to show the currency used in the recent incident. Whilst at first glance they may look legitimate, there are signs it is counterfeit. The top note can be seen to be marked and scraped and the text can be seen to unclear from the poor quality printing.
If you fall victim to any kind of fraud involving counterfeit currency, please report it as soon as possible to police.
