The effect of this proposed Order would be to reduce the current 30mph speed limit to 20mph in Detling, Maidstone on the following length of roads:-

  • Church Lane - From its junction with The Street for a distance of 100 metres in a westerly direction.
  • Pilgrims Way – From its junction with The Street to the eastern boundary of Plums Acre.
  • Princes Way and Queens Way - For their entire length.
  • The Street – From a point 42 metres east of its junction with Detling Hill for its entire length.

This order is proposed for the following reasons:

  • for avoiding danger to persons or other traffic using the road or any other road or for preventing the likelihood of any such danger arising
  • for preserving or improving the amenities of the area through which the road runs
  • for facilitating the passage on the road or any other road of any class of traffic (including pedestrians).

The scheme will be reviewed so that the Council can make the decision to make the Order permanent, amend or abandon it.

Full details can be found in the Public Notice and Statement for Reason document. A scheme plan is also available in the 'Documents' section.

Any person wishing to object to or support the Order can do so via the KCC website
