Earlier this year, Maidstone Borough Council (MBC) consulted residents as part of its ongoing Community Governance Review (CGR) to ask about the community governance for the unparished Maidstone Town, and also for Grove Green and Thurnham West.

Following that consultation, based on the feedback, it has been decided to:

• Not to make any change to Grove Green and Thurnham West
• Put forward a proposal for a Maidstone Town Council

There was support at Stage 1 for forming a Town Council, and with Local Government Reorganisation on the horizon and the desire for local representation and to continue the office of the Mayor of Maidstone, it is important for everyone to share their views and shape a Town Council for Maidstone.

This proposal is being consulted on for Stage 2.
