It will be necessary to close Sittingbourne Road, Detling from 6th March 2026 for up to 2 nights.

The road will be closed between M20 J7 interchange and Pilgrims Way junction. This includes closure of the M20 to A249 fast-link, arranged with National Highways.

The alternative route is via A249 Newnham Court Roundabout, Bearsted Road, Sittingbourne Road, Penenden Heath Road, Sandling Lane, Running Horse Roundabout, Royal Engineers Road, Chatham Road, Blue Bell Hill, Maidstone Road, City Way, New Road, New Road Avenue, Union Street, The Brook, Military Road, Dock Road, Globe Lane, Barrack Hill, Main Gate Road, Wood Street, Brompton Road, High Street, Arden Street, Jeffery Street, Victoria Street, Balmoral Road, Duncan Road, Nelson Road, Napier Road, Oxford Road, Cleave Road, Watling Street, Twydall Lane, London Road, Moor Street, Hartlip Hill, Boyces Hill, Keycol Hill, Key Street Roundabout, Key Street Slip Southbound On, A249 J A2 Join S, Detling Hill.

It is planned that the road will be closed between 20:00 hrs and 06:00 hrs each night.

This is to enable resurfacing works to the carriageway surface on high speed rail overbridge A249 northbound carriageway, to be carried out by Kent County Council.
