Playing Field Project
Funding has been approved towards upgrading the existing play area and installing recreational equipment at the Old School Playing Field.
Detling Parish Council is celebrating a grant of £100,000 from FCC Communities Foundation to support the development of the Old School Playing Field. The funding will be used towards upgrading the existing play area and installing recreational equipment, including replacing the multiplay tower, replacing the safety surfacing, installing a sports wall and adult exercise equipment.
Councillor Chris Houlihan, Chairman of Detling Parish Council, said: “This funding is a fantastic boost for our community. We’re excited to see the project take shape.” “Penny Horne, Grant Manager at FCC Communities Foundation, said: “It’s always great to fund grassroots projects that make a real difference to community wellbeing. We’re excited to help deliver this project and see the positive impact it will have.”
FCC Communities Foundation is a not-for-profit organisation that distributes grants for community projects through the Landfill Communities Fund, supported by FCC Environment.
This latest brings the total amount of grant funding awarded to the Parish Council to £125,500. Following an extensive tendering process, the Open Spaces Working Group scrutinised the submissions and the Parish Council agreed on a scheme at the October meeting. It is hoped the project will be completed in the New Year.
The Council is extremely grateful to the FCC Communities Foundation, The Cobtree Trust and County Councillor Sarah Emberson’s Members’ Grant Fund for their contributions towards the scheme which will provide new and exciting amenities for all ages in the village
